Participant Volunteers for Near
Death Experiment
Perhaps surprisingly, given the exotic nature
of the NDExp, there have already been several expressions of interest
made by persons wishing to volunteer as participants in the Near
Death Experiment.
Anyone considering volunteering, however should
be aware of the commitment that they are making and the potential
risks they are taking. While Hypothermic Circulatory Arrest is
commonly carried out it is hardly routine and is potentially dangerous.
Serious injury, or permanent death cannot be ruled out as a result
of participating in this experiment and persons who participate
do so at their own risk.
Because of the potential dangers, all eligible
volunteers will undergo a thorough physical and psychological
assessment prior to being accepted as participants.
Currently, it is anticipated that the research
will be conducted within Australia and volunteers should be aware
that the experiment may not take place for several years, depending
on levels of funding and support. A register will be kept of all
volunteers and they will be contacted as required for assessment,
or participation.
Anyone who is interested in participating is encouraged
to volunteer, however, all persons will need to be over the age
of 18 at the time of volunteering.
Needless to say, all volunteers and participants
have the right to withdraw from the experiment at any
stage.
